Payout restriction. A payout to an affiliated company is only possible if the participant is its owner, managing director or a shareholder with at least 25 %. Proof will be requested from the winner after the competition (e.g. current extract from the company register / visura camerale, not older than 3 months). Payouts to third parties (family members, friends, employers, sponsors or other persons or companies without this legal link) are excluded.

5Official competition rules

  1. Organiser. The competition is organised by The Pigment (PMU Pigment GmbH, Gartengasse 8/8, 1050 Vienna, Austria, VAT ATU82704209). Contact: info@the-pigment.com.
  2. Eligibility & tickets. Participation requires a valid competition ticket per category. Participants may compete in several categories (Lips, Microblading, Powderbrows) provided they hold a ticket for each. Participants must be of legal age and professionally qualified to perform PMU. Participation is only possible if this registration form has been completed and submitted before the event.
  3. Schedule & time limits. PMU Lips 08:30–11:30 (3 h) · Microblading 12:00–14:30 (2.5 h) · Powderbrows 15:00–18:00 (3 h). Participants and models must be at their station ready to start at least 30 minutes before their slot. Work ends when the time limit is called; no work may continue after the signal.
  4. Late arrival, no-show, cancellation. Late arrival, no-show or cancellation on the day of the competition leads to disqualification. Tickets are not refunded in these cases.
  5. Model. Each participant brings their own model. Models must be 18+, must not have previous PMU in the treated area and must sign the consent and health questionnaire. No make-up may be worn on or around the area to be treated.
  6. Equipment & materials. Provided by the organiser at every station: treatment bed, cosmetic table, ring light and all hygiene products (gloves, disposable aprons, hair nets, disinfectant, cotton pads, brushes and disposable bed covers). Participants only bring their treatment materials: tools, pigments, machine, needles/cartridges and any other working material they need.
  7. Hygiene & PPE (mandatory; non-compliance may lead to point deduction or disqualification).

    • All disposable working materials (cable covers, cotton pads, gloves)
    • Black gloves are not allowed
    • All detachable parts (needle, cartridge) must come from sealed, sterile packaging
    • Participant and model must wear caps and masks before gloves are put on
    • All jewellery (bracelets, watches, rings) must be removed
    • Hands must be washed and disinfected before putting on gloves (disinfectant available on site)
    • The model's skin must be cleaned with an alcohol-based disinfectant before the treatment
    • Hair (participant and model) must be tied back in a ponytail or bun; no head hair in the face or covering the work area
  8. Judging. The jury judges the final result only. Criteria: harmony, shape & symmetry, colour, trauma (skin traumatisation) and cleanliness of work. The jury's decision is final and cannot be contested. Jury members may not judge work of their own students or employees.
  9. Fair play. Pre-drawn or pre-pigmented areas, prior treatment of the model in the competition area, the use of photo filters or any help from third parties during the working time lead to disqualification.
  10. Prizes. 1st place: EUR 5,000 cash · 2nd place: EUR 2,000 voucher · 3rd place: EUR 1,000 voucher. Vouchers are redeemable on the-pigment.com, are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. The cash prize is paid exclusively by bank transfer.
  11. Payout. After the competition the organiser will request the documents needed for the payout from the winner (e.g. a copy of a valid photo ID and, where applicable, proof of affiliation under 4c). The cash prize is transferred within 30 days after these documents have been received. Payout is made only to the winner personally or to a company affiliated with the winner as defined in section 4c. The organiser pays the gross prize amount; bank charges of the receiving bank are borne by the recipient.
  12. Taxes. The winner is solely responsible for declaring and paying any income tax, VAT, social security contributions or other levies arising from the prize in their country of tax residence. The organiser does not provide tax advice. If the organiser is legally obliged to withhold or report taxes, it will do so and the payout will be reduced accordingly.
  13. Awards & afterparty. Results are announced at the award ceremony at 20:30 on 28.09.2026. The afterparty is included in the competition ticket. Dress code: elegant casual.
  14. Photo & video. The organiser and its appointed photographers and videographers take photos and videos throughout the event, including the competition work, the final results, the jury evaluation and the award ceremony. This material, together with names and rankings, may be used by The Pigment without compensation on its website, social media, advertising and press. Participants are responsible for informing their model and obtaining the model's consent.
  15. Liability. Participants work under their own professional responsibility and must hold valid liability insurance for PMU treatments. The organiser is not liable for treatment results, complications, or loss of or damage to personal belongings, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.
  16. Changes. The organiser may adjust the schedule, jury or procedure for organisational reasons. Participants will be informed immediately. Austrian law applies; mandatory consumer protection provisions remain unaffected.
